Mysuru: The Royal City of Mysuru is all set to see some effective beat system of policing, following guidelines of the state government to improvise on the beat and make it people-friendly.
Mysuru Superintendent of Police Ravi D Chennannavar said that several changes have been made to the existing beat system to make it more vibrant and efficient.
Under the newly designed beat system, the station limits would be divided between the constables and the head constables and they would be made accountable for the beat system of their designated area.
The heads of the beat would be changed annually and every personnel of the police station-ranging from writers to Intelligence wing are expected to take up the beat duty.
The one deputed under the beat will have to take up investigation of the complaints, issue warrants and summons, collect data on illegal activities, gather intelligence data, gun licence, hold Dalit meetings in Dalit colonies and understand the problems and grievances of the people of the village assigned to them. The Station Inspector would supervise the beat on monthly basis.
The SP said that the system will work as a bridge between the people and the police and that with such an effective mechanism in place, the problems of the people and the cases reported from the villages can be tackled faster.
The ASI of a particular police station can form committee comprising of the police personnel and the locals residents. The Committee members will have to work as one unit, in sync with each other.
Each station will have to display the blueprint of the beat, villages of the beat coming under its purview, cops in-charge of the beat and other details.
