Lone man stages protest for harassed Dalits

Mysuru: Citing innumerable incidents of atrocities against Dalits, a lone man staged protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding justice and compensation for a victim on January 21.
Desecrating the portrait of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Kollegal, garlanding the statue of Basavanna with footwear in Nidoni of Belagavi and assaulting a Dalit youth in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru figured in his list of complaints.

Nagaraj, a resident of Kuvempunagar in the city vented anger against “anti-social elements” and urged the state police to nab all the culprits involved in creating tension among communities.

He sought a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh for the Dalit victim thrashed and later paraded in public by garlanding him with footwear recently.
