Labourer’s daredevil act of climbing moving train costs him his hand

Mysuru: A labourer has lost his left hand after slipping from a moving train at Sujathapuram Railway Station, near Nanjangud Railway station on Saturday night. The local snake catcher named ‘Snake Basavaraju’ rushed the injured to KR hospital where the injured is undergoing treatment.

Paramesh, 30, native of Kadatanalu village of Pandavapura taluk in Mandya district was trying to get on to Mysuru-bound train at Sujathapuram railway station on the outskirts of the town, 22 kms from Mysuru after finishing his work when he slipped from the train severing his left hand. As it was pitch dark and not many passengers were around he himself got out of the station and approached the public at Nanjangud –Mysuru main road for help. Most of the public didn’t come to his rescue but Snake Basavaraju who was passing.by took him to local hospital and later was referred to KR Hospital for further treatment.

Paramesh’s hand that was severed remained at the mishap spot. Later in the morning, the police who got information reached the spot and came across the severe left hand. Though it was transferred to the hospital, it was of no help to the victim.

Doctors said that if the hand was brought immediately after the accident it could have been refitted.

For the past two years, everyday Paramesh who is working has Mason used to travel to Nanjangud from Pandavapura.
