Mysuru: Kannada Forum members organised a protest in front of the local road transport department offices against the sudden move of the central transport ministry to hike road taxes.
Terming the decision unscientific, the forum members vehemently protested hike in registration, renewals and driving license fee. They also felt the timing inappropriate when the economy was struggling with the central government’s demonetisation move.
They questioned the decision to levy toll for all vehicles on highways, especially those state vehicles entering the state from neighboring state borders.
They warned of intensifying the protests if the hike in taxes is not withdrawn.
