Mysuru: Janata Dal (Secular) will announce the first list of probable candidates for the forthcoming State Assembly polls by March 15, declared party President H D Kumarswamy. The decision to field candidates for Gundlupet and Nanajangud Assembly will be taken after discussing at the party forum, he clarified.

Talking to media persons at the government guest house in Mysuru, H D Kumaraswamy said his party was not running out of candidates but the decision on fielding the candidate would be taken only after consulting party workers in the respective Assembly constituencies.

Regarding blocking of party workers by the police, HDK said he had talks with the police top brass on the issue and criticised the attitude of the government of enforcing the rules even before election dates were announced. The decision to block the workers who were on their way to meet him showed the government resolves to silence his party workers, he added.

Claiming, there is no dearth of candidates in the party, HDK ridiculed CM Siddaramaiah by stating that his party was no match for Congress which had the habit of poaching candidates from other parties on the eve of elections. When asked about former JDS leader Kalale Krishnamurthy switching over to Congress, HDK sarcastically stated the leader might have run out of funds after losing two consecutive elections, which might have forced him to enter Congress.

“On one side BJP talks of polarisation and claims of winning 150 seats and on the other side Congress is certain about regaining power. There is no dearth for statements from both national parties but in reality the present government rule is worse than that of Veerappan”, HDK remarked.

“Congress leader Govindraju is eager to know how BJP managed to extract the details from his diary. In such a situation, it amounts to justifying payments made to Congress high command from state sources” HDK claimed.

He demanded the completion of Rs 5000 Crore Mekedatu project by the government without creating a separate financial package for its execution in the forthcoming state budget.
