Mysuru: Mysuru Corporation raided and locked down an illegal paying guest accommodation near Kamakshi Hospital in Saraswathipuram here on Thursday. Roopa, Zonal Commissioner who led the raid was allegedly threatened by the owner of the accommodation. She in turn, has lodged a complaint at the Saraswathipuram Police Station.
After repeated complaints from the localities that an illegally paying guest accommodation in Saraswathipuram was creating nuisance in the vicinity, the corporation authorities led by zonal commissioner, on Thursday, raided and locked down 23-room building. Anil, the owner of the accommodation which was being run illegally for the past couple of years with nearly 60 students in it, had obtained the permission to run catering service but not paying guest. When the MCC authorities tried to enter the building, Anil resisted the staff.
Roopa said, “Earlier keeping the interest of nearly 60 students we had warned him and told him to take a license but even after repeated instructions from us he did not budge. Hence on Thursday, when we entered his premise, he didn’t let us to do our duty and even threatened me. Till last year, he was having license to do catering business but this year that too has expired. He also violated building bylaws and needs to pay tax which he has not for the past many years. Action will also be initiated against corporation officials concerned, who ignored the case and failed to keep tab on illegal buildings. In days to come more such raids will be taken up in my jurisdiction.”
