Mysuru: Police nabbed a history-sheeter after he kidnapped a family of three and kept them under illegal confinement over non-repayment of loans due to him from them.

Amjad Khan, a history-sheeter from Chamarajanagar was nabbed in connection with the incident.

Suhail, wife Sayeed Nirda and their 4-month-old infant were rescued from the hands of the accused.

Suhail had borrowed Rs 2.7 Lakh from Amjad Khan to support his business. When he failed to pay back after he suffered losses, Amjad started repeatedly harassing Suhail and his family. To evade Amjad, Suhail left Chamarajanagar and started residing in Mysuru.

Amjad, after gathering information about the family, kidnapped Suhail, his wife and their 4-month-old infant on the night of July 4 and kept them under confinement.

Suhail’s father who sniffed Amjad’s hand informed police and plotted Amjad’s arrest with their cooperation. Accordingly, he assured Amjad of money due to him from his son-in-law and asked him to collect the same.

When Amjad reached the destination to collect the loan amount, police nabbed him instantly. They charged him with extortion, kidnap, attempt to rape, illegal confinement cases and remanded him to custody last night.
