Mysuru: T R Namitha and Pooja R Hegde emerged as golden girls by winning two medals each during the 22nd annual convocation of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) held at its premise here on Friday. Girls outshone boys by winning more number of gold medals. Out of seven gold medals, girls had a lion’s share of six.
T R Namitha won two gold medals for her outstanding performance in marketing and her overall academic performance while Pooja R Hegde won two gold medals for topping in operations and overall performance. Rajeev Dubey, Group President – HR & Corporate Services, CEO – Aftermarket Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra presented gold medals to the outstanding students while S Prabhakar, Member of Governing Council presented Post Graduate Diploma in Management certificates to 173 eligible students of 2015-2017 batch.
Namitha who has done her engineering in Electronics and Communication from NIE said, “I am from an engineering background. I did my engineering in NIE and after that I went to work for two months but I felt the need that if I do an additional degree, especially on the management side then it will boost my career. It’s better to know how to manage people instead of just getting specialised in a particular subject. A broad functional knowledge will also help my career.” Due to her good academic performance she got placed in TCS.
Dr N R Parasuraman, Director of the Institute, presented the annual report, stating the activities and achievements during 2016-17. The governing and advisory board members of the institute also graced the occasion.

Veerendra Heggade misses convocation for the first time:
Chairman of the Institute Veerendra Heggade never used to miss the convocation but for the first time, due to religious commitment at Dharmasthala, he could not make it this year. However, he managed to send his best wishes through video.
