Female leopard found in BEML campus trapped

Mysuru: An year old female leopard, which was sighted in CCTV cameras was trapped by forest department staffers at BEML campus premise in Hebbal Industrial Area here on Sunday morning.

Following complaints that the big cat is prowling in the campus, which is a wooded area spread across more than 400 acres, the forest department had placed a trap 15 days ago. After seeing the movement of leopard in the CCTV cameras which were kept at prominent places at BEML campus, the BEML authorities brought this to the notice of forest personnel who swung into action.

On Sunday morning, the night shift employees of BEML noticed the leopard trapped inside the cage and brought it to the notice of forest personnel. Immediately HK Puttaraju, RFO, K Surendra, DRFO, Shivakumar, Forest Guard rushed to the spot and made arrangements to shift the leopard. The leopard was later taken to Nagarhole Park where it was set free. According to sources, it is alleged that there are possibilities of two more leopard in the campus.
