Electrification of Mysuru-Bengaluru rail line to be completed by June or July

Mysuru: The electrification between Mysuru and Bengaluru will be completed by June or July, said A K Gupta, General Manager, South Western Railway. He also assured that in another six months’ time good working condition including for those working in pitline will be provided by the Railways.

Gupta who was in Srirangapatna Railway Station to oversee the historical physical shifting of Tipu Armoury, after inspecting the shifting work which concluded on Friday, said, “Already the electrification is completed till Ramanagaram and the rest of the work will be completed by June or July. Once the Bengaluru –Mysuru line is electrified then we can see EMU trains. Already EMU trains are being operated towards Marikopam, Kuppam and Ramanagaram.”

“To ease the congestion at Mysuru railway station where already there is hardly any scope for new trains, we are looking now at having additional terminal station at the cost of Rs 100 Crore probably at Kadakola and working on the final location in the blue print. If it starts taking shape, may be five years from now it will be a reality. We will work it out in the blue print stage. At the moment it is one of the important probabilities. Apart from this, the main new project we have is we are going for double line across South Western Railway. There are 30 different projects, most of them double line projects, among which some are in progress and the completed including Bengaluru –Dharmavaram, Bengaluru – Hubli double line, Hubli to Vasco and Dharmavaram and Pedakonda.”

With regard to semi high speed train, he said “We also want it, but it should be decided by the Government of India”.

Mysuru-Kushalnagar train:

Gupta also mentioned that the survey report conducted by Railways had been given to the state government to study. The Railways are also planning to take up the project on the lines of Hassan and Bengaluru. With regard to inauguration of Bengaluru –Hassan double line he said, “Already the work is completed and we are waiting for date a from Ministry of Railways. Once they give us the date, it will be inaugurated but already goods trains are being operated on this stretch”, he added.

Gupta meets Chief Secretary of Karnataka for Kolar Coach Factory:

After inspecting the shifting work at Srirangapatna, Gupta went to meet Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia with regard to land related issues for setting up of Kolar Coach Factory which was proposed during 2013-14 when K H Muniyappa was minister of railways. To set up coach factory, the Railways is requesting state government to sanction 1000 hectares free of cost.

GM assured good working condition for all the employees:

When the issues of unhygienic work place at pitline in Mysuru was brought to the notice of General Manager Gupta he said, “Our main concern is good working environment for employees so that they can function properly. For this, some money and time is required. In six months from now, one can definitely see sea changes.”
