Mysuru: To take stock of the various works which are being undertaken in city, District Minister H C Mahadevappa along with district administration officials including Deputy Commissioner D Randeep inspected various ongoing projects. Among development and widening of 13 inner ring roads in city, apart from three to four roads, for rest of the roads the authorities are having land acquisition problem, it was noted.

During 2017-18 budget, Rs 117 Crore was sanctioned for development and widening of 13 inner ring roads in city. Though most of the projects are undertaken, for majority of the projects there are land acquisition issues. Minister called upon the authorities to speed up the process by amicably solving the land acquisition problems. To start with he inspected the ongoing flyover work at Hinkal where it is being constructed at a cost of Rs 19.3 Crore. He instructed the persons concerned to get the work completed well before December this year and give away the facility to the people.

Later, he inspected the widening of roads from Bogadi Circle to Jattihundi and Beerihundi and Crawford Hall to Bogadi Circle in progress at a cost of Rs 27 Crore. The authorities are expected to axe 40 trees for this project and have already paid money for planting 400 saplings on this stretch. Minister also called upon the authorities to see that the plants which are grown are taken care of.

He also inspected the ongoing works at New Kantharaja Urs Road where work is undertaken at a cost of Rs 5 Crore, Vishwamanava double road where the developmental works are undertaken at a cost of Rs 5 Crore, Srinivas Circle to 101 Ganapnathy at a cost of Rs 3.5 Crore. “Keeping the city developmental plan in mind, we have taken up various works across the city. Most of the ongoing works are expected to be completed well before December and once completed Mysuru city will look much more beautiful”, added Mahadevappa.

If govt pays, DC or District Office will be completed by December

If the government pays money on time for construction of the new office of the Deputy Commissioner or District Office which is coming up at German Press premise, the work will be completed by December this year.

To everyone’s surprise, the contractor who has taken up the construction of Deputy Commissioner’s Office has completed nearly 60 percent of the work by investing nearly Rs 32.87 Crore. Though the government has released just Rs 6.63 Crore, the contractor has already invested Rs 32.87 Crore for the project. For the first phase, the government has announced Rs 67 Crore which includes construction of 17 rooms. If the government without any delay releases the remaining amount of the first phase, the work will be completed by December. In the second phase, the work including construction of 11 rooms will be taken up at a cost of Rs 30 Crore.

The officials along with minister during inspection were surprised with the progress of the work. If the government releases the remaining Rs 60 Crore, the contractor who had constructed Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum and Vikasa Soudha in Bengaluru will easily complete the work by December this year which was taken up in December 2016. When the delay in payment was brought to the notice of Mahadevappa, he immediately contacted persons concerned in Bengaluru and assured the contractor that the bills would be settled immediately.

The building which is coming up in 29010 sq m area will have a basement, ground and two floors. In the ground floor, district registrar’s office, land survey department, district treasury, deputy divisional office, food and civil supplies department and Muzrai department will be set up. In the first floor, DC office, Deputy Commissioner -Excise, mines and geology, minority welfare, women and child development and child protection and Karnataka SC/ST Development Corporation will be set up while in the second floor mining and geology department, legal survey inspection, fisheries, excise joint director, district Ayush, Dr. Ambedkar Development Corporation, industrial safety and security, Deputy Drug Controller’s regional office, Deputy Chief Electrical Inspector’s office, Tribal Development Corporation, Karnataka Staff Khadi and Gramodhayoga Mandali, urban and rural planning development, backward class welfare, district child protection and district statistical department will be set up.

The construction authorities have given provision for jack system facility and if the government gives its nod for the same, it can accommodate nearly 1200 cars and nearly 800 two-wheelers. Though the deadline for completion of the project is March, the authorities have assured the minister that it will also be completed by the end of December.

Give immediate attention to Devi Lake

After complaints from people that Devi Lake at Chamundi Hill was getting polluted, keeping the interest of the people, Mahadevappa instructed the officials including Deputy Commissioner D Randeep to take up cleaning work at the earliest.
