Mysuru: Former Congress worker K Marigowda who got bail from III JMFC on Thursday walked free from Mysore Central Prison on Friday. After all formalities he was released from jail in the evening.
After 22 days of his surrender to Nazarbad Police station, Marigowda got bail from III JMFC. He needs to furnish Rs 1 lakh personnel bond and also needs to report to nearby police station on every alternate Saturday.
Marigowda’s anticipatory bail petition was rejected by VII additional district and session’s court on July 12 on the same grounds. It had observed that the complainant is the district’s top bureaucrat, who happens to be a woman officer too. Later, Marigowda moved the High Court, but there too he did not get pre-arrest bail. He later surrendered before city police on August 3, exactly a month after he was booked for preventing DC C Shikha from discharging her duties.
The court had earlier rejected the bail petition of Manjunath, who is also an accused in the case. Manjunath also got bail with personnel surety bond of Rs 75,000.
Marigowda had publicly hurled abuses at former DC Shikha, who filed a complaint and made sure that this close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was booked.
