Mysuru: The inaugural of Dasara-2017 turned into a platform for praise, camaraderie among the dignitaries present not leaving behind politics. Tit-bits of humour just added more flitter to the otherwise routine event.
Each leader present on the dais recalled their association with Dasara festivities in a way or the other from childhood.
District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa spoke in brief and attributed his accomplishments to the grace bestowed upon him by Goddess Chamundeshwari.
Taking everyone by surprise, MP Pratap Simha showered praises on CM for his approach despite facing bitter criticism from the former. State CM forgives his bitter critics with ease and gets along with everyone, he lauded and thanked the CM for providing an opportunity to share his views on the dais and concluded by saying “Siddaramaiah is a great son of the city.”
Responding to Pratap Simha’s comments, CM Siddaramaiah said as an individual he was soft from within, contradicting his rough external behaviour but Nadoja and Padmashri awardee Prof. Nissar Ahmed, who inaugurated the event this year overtook him as he was soft within and externally too.
Recalling his childhood, CM Siddaramaih said his father carried him on his shoulders those days to witness the glory associated with the event. “It gives me immense pleasure to lead from the front these days. As CM, I have been part of all Dasara celebrations during the last five years and confident of carrying forward the trend during the next years, hinting that he was not averse to taking on the state leadership once again.
Senior leader G T Devegowda wished him well so that he remained at the helm during the next 5 years. When he asked his bitter critic MP Pratap Simha to do the same with his quick wit and confident delivery, he had the audience in fits of laughter.
