Mysuru: For the past couple of days, the Mysuru City Corporation officials and elected representatives are going all out in their efforts to curb shops running without valid license and seizing banned plastics. On Thursday, the corporation officials during their raid in five shops seized nearly 33,000 kilos of banned plastic at APMC yard.
On Thursday, officials including Deputy Commissioner D Randeep and Corporation Commissioner Jagadeesh raided shops in APMC yard on Mysuru–Nanjangud road and seized six truckloads of banned plastics including carry bags, spoons, plates and cups worth lakhs of rupees. After getting information, many shops were not opened but Deputy Commissioner D Randeep instructed the shop owners to open the shutters and seized banned plastic products from them. Cases were booked through Pollution Control Board. There are possibilities of their trade licenses getting cancelled.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, the Health and Sanitation Standing Committee of Mysuru City Corporation seized a flour mill which was functioning for many decades without valid licenses including trade and food license from Mysuru City Corporation. On Wednesday, the corporation officials who took out raid in all the nine zones across the city managed to seize 123 kilos of plastics bags. The officials during their raid also shut down four shops.
