Mysuru: Karnataka State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday alleged that the Congress workers were making use of police vehicles to distribute cash and bribe voter while campaigning in Gundlupet.
Speaking at an election rally in Berambadi in Gundlupet, Yeddyurappa said that a few police officers were campaigning for Congress candidate Geetha Mahadeva Prasad and urged the Election Commission to initiate action against the officers involved in distributing cash to the voters.
Further he added that he had apprised the Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the style of functioning of police officers favoring a party in the campaign and has urged him to stop the police from distributing money.
He also alleged that Geetha Mahadeva Prasad was contesting the bypoll to safeguard her wealth and that there is no sympathy wave in Gundlupet.
Meanwhile, Geetha has refuted the allegations made by Yeddyurappa and dared him to lodge a complaint with the Election Commission, if he has any evidence of the use of police vehicles to bribe the voters.
“I don’t need sympathy. Development works carried out by my husband speak volumes,” she added.
