Mysuru: “In politics everything is uncertain, there are no permanent friends or enemies. In the forthcoming Assembly election, there is all possibility that my good friend G T Devegowda, the sitting MLA from Chamundeshwari constituency may be my opposition,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Speaking after inaugurating various developmental works at Udbur village in Chamundeshwari constituency he said, “Chamundeshari and Varuna constituency are like my two eyes. The attachment towards Chamundeshwari is there for the past nearly 40 years. My innings as an MLA started from this constituency in the year 1983. After I was expelled from Janata Dal in 2006, I resigned as MLA and later joined Congress. During the by-election, the then chief minister Kumarswamy and deputy chief minister Yeddyurappa tried their level best but people of Chamundeshwari constituency had faith in me and elected me by a margin of 250 votes. The election was like Mahabharata battle, I have not seen such election in my life. The election was a turning point in my life. If I had lost the by-election, it would have been probably the end of my political career. If I am the chief minister today, the victory in the by-election is also a reason. Hence I have lot of respect for the people and whatever I do for them will be minimum.”

“Whatever the opposition does, I am confident that people will vote for us and we will come back to power but I don’t know whether I will become chief minister again. But one thing is for sure that I will be presenting the budget in the month of February.”

“The various bhagyas which I have come out with do not belong to any particular community. Farmers and poor people are there in all communities. The schemes are only to uplift farmers and poor people and not to please particular community.” He also assured people of Udbur village which has got 7000 voters that their streets would be concretised and UGDs set up at the earliest. District Minister H C Mahadevappa was also present.

Meanwhile, G T Devegowda also rubbished the rumours that he was going to join Congress. “These rumours are far from true. In the forthcoming election, I will be contesting from JDS”, added Devegowda.
