Mysuru: The chief minister will give away benefits to the deserving tribals from southern districts of the state at a massive state level convention on February 1 at Karnataka Exhibition Authority grounds.
Disclosing the details of the convention at Jaladarshini in Mysuru, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said the convention had been organised to empower tribals on several government schemes and give away benefits to the deserving beneficiaries.

Tribals residing in the districts of Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagalur are entitled to take part in the convention which begins at 2 pm in the afternoon. Around 12000 tribals are likely to attend the convention and the nodal officers have to ensure their orderly participation, DC Randeep said.

District nodal officers have to make all arrangements for their active participation and those coming from distant places need to be provided with accommodation and refreshments, DC added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the convention where the tribals can submit their pleas and the tribal leaders from the respective districts must collect all the applications for orderly submission prior to the convention, DC said.

The officers from Integrate Tribal Development Project (ITDP) meant for scheduled tribes have been assigned the role of setting up the stage, barricades, oversee security arrangements in collaboration with the police and providing separate parking slots for visitors and dignitaries, DC stated.

The beneficiaries will get land title deeds, prize money and nutritious food packets at the convention where symbolic certificates will be issued. Nodal officers must guide the beneficiaries to the dais by collecting their identity cards in advance, DC noted.

ITDP Director Revannappa, ZP CEO P Shivashankar, State Tribal Research Institute Director Basavanagowda and other officials were present during the preparatory meeting at Jaladarshini.
