Mysuru: The grand reception of Yaduveer and Trishika was held on Monday evening. It was nothing less than a star-studded event. Though speculation were rife that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah may not attend the Royal wedding owing to the hostile relation he shared with Late Srikantadutta Wodeyar, he proved them all wrong by becoming a part of the event and wishing the newly married couple.
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, MP Shobha Karandalaje, BJP leader Ananth Kumar, Congress rebel Ambareesh, union Minister Sadananda Gowda, former top cop Shankar Bidari among others were seen at the resplendent reception ceremony.
Wedding ceremony
Royal wedding rituals which began after sunrise extended beyond noon with the main ceremony of Kanya Dhan (Offering bride in a traditional manner by her parents) taking place during the auspicious time, well attended by family members from both sides.
The bride offered Lakshmi puja in the beginning before the main ceremony. Then the ceremony of Kanyadhan was followed by tying of Mangala Sutram. Later they exchanged garlands and the groom performed the ritual of making the bride wear a golden toe ring.
This was then followed by taking the seven vows around the holy fire place.
The ceremony ended after receiving Prasadam from various temples under the erstwhile Wodeyar kingdom. The new royal couple looked cheerful and happy during the entire marriage ceremony. They were seen exchanging words, smiles and at times appearing shy on account the big occasion. Most guests were seen wearing the royal attire and the male members from each family were given a garland made out of famous Mysore jasmine flowers. All the men adorned the traditional ‘peta’ or the head gear, which again is very typical to Mysuru.
Everything was well organised and the wedding hall was bedecked with flowers as the guests including the Hindu purohits witnessed the ceremony and later wished and blessed the newly married couple. The tunes of the tradition wedding music filled the air in the wedding hall.
Rajmatha turns emotional
Rajmatha Pramodha Devi was seen interacting with most of the guests who were part of the ceremony and took the lead in organising the entire ceremony as per royal tradition associated with age old vedic rituals by successive Wodeyar families over the years.
Turning emotional during press conference later Pramoda Devi felt the absence of her husband Late Srikanta Dutta Wodeyar and said that the entire family missed him on the occasion.
Talking about Trishika Wodeyar, she said having stayed in Karnataka she knows the local customs well.
Some reports suggest that Trishika studied in Baldwins school in Bengaluru and later at Jyothi Nivas College before going to Boston where she fell in love with Yaduveer.
Brijesh and Nalini among the guests
Former Indian cricket player and Karnataka Ranji Captain and a close friend of late Srikantadutta Wodeyar was seen among the guest in the hall. The other notable person being Nalini Chidamabram, supreme court advocate and wife of former finance and home minister P Chidamabram along with few other businessman.
Yaduveer turns to facebook leaving Trishika alone for a while
Yaduveer who had few friends on the social networking site in the beginning managed to find many more as he became the scion. Today within an hour, after the wedding ceremony he uploaded his wedding photographs for his friends and well-wishers. He is receiving plenty of wishes and likes from everyone who could not be part of the ceremony.
