Mysuru: With the cleanest city tag in India for two successive years, Mysuru has graced another feather in its crown when it was declared ‘open defecation free’ as announced by the city Mayor B L Byrappa.
Declaring the details in a press briefing the elevated state of the city, the Mayor said, “Quality council of India has assessed 62 cities nationwide and has finally zeroed down on Vijayawada and Mysuru. However, Mysuru pipped Vijayawada and became the first open defecation free city in India, thereby getting another reason to celebrate.”
On September 30, the Prime minister of India will be giving awards in this category whereas the representatives from ‘Quality Control of India’ will be giving the certificates during a town hall function on September 28th, confirmed the Mayor.
