Mysuru: As part of the Independence Day celebration, the Yuva Morcha of the BJP will for the first time host a midnight freedom run called ‘Midnight Run for Bharath’ in a bid to promote patriotism among people, especially the youngsters here in front of Mysuru Palace at Kote Anjaneya Temple premise on August 14.
Gokul Govardhan, President, BJP Yuva Morcha said “Usually youths celebrate new year at midnight by conducting various cultural and entertainment programs. On similar lines we have decided to celebrate Independence in a unique way by hosting a midnight freedom run for the first time on the eve of Independence day.The event will commence at 9 pm on August 14 at Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple premises and will consist of a cultural program, including few patriotic songs from Shreeharsha and Vaishnavi. Later after hoisting flag at 12 am the midnight run will be flagged off from temple premises. Participants will pass through KR Circle, Corporation, Balarama Gate before culminating at the starting point. We are expecting more than 3000 people for the event”.
Former minister and senior BJP leader R Ashok, C T Ravi, City BJP President Dr BH Manjunath, Shivanna are also expected to take part in the event.
