Mysuru: “The BJP does not want to extinguish the flames of violence. Instead it wants to benefit from keeping the communal tension alive,” charged Chief Minister Siddaramiah reacting to BJP leaders’ charges.

“BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel is keen on setting Dakshina Kananda on fire. Its State President BSY is planning to set the entire state on fire and Shobha Karandlaje wants to nail the Congress’ coffin. If each of these leaders speak in these words, what more can be expected of them while Congress will always strive to douse the flame,” said CM justifying his position on DK violence.

BJP always makes hollow claims and have only succeeded in reaping benefit from these, charged Siddaramaiah reacting on BJP’s mission to build Ram Mandir which never materialised.

Holding BJP responsible for the riots in Bantwal and surrounding areas, CM said the party always worked with a hidden agenda to split the society on emotive and communal grounds. The net result of their divisive agenda is equivalent to tearing a clean fabric and the Congress sews the same back to restore normalcy, he added.

At the same time he warned the BJP of serious consequences if it continued to vitiate the atmosphere on communal lines.

Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman’s statements are baseless and those of MP Pratap Simha are immature, said CM. It may be recalled that Nirmala Sitharaman had said that no one would come forward to invest in the state riddled in communal tension and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha had accused CM’s close confidantes of being involved in the killing of RSS activist Sharat Madival.

Defending Kempaiah, CM said, “He is just an advisor but the BJP people cannot stand him for reasons best known. The law and order situation in DK is under control.”

BJP will never come back to power and the dream of state president of becoming the chief minister at the age of 75 will never materialise,” CM Siddramaiah stated.

On release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, chief minister said the state was duty bound to release the water as per apex court guidelines after assessing the storage situation and had accordingly released 5 TMC of water against 50 TMC. “In case we fail to release, it would be difficult to face the court, he added.

CM made these comments on arrival at the Mysuru airport responding to queries from media.
