Mysuru: At a programme organised under the joint aegis of Karnataka State Women’s commission and Akhila Bharatha Janavadi Mahila Sangatane, a signature campaign for security of women and children was launched here at Dasara Exhibition grounds on Monday.

rangayanaThe programme was launched by Rangayana Director H. Janardhan (Janni). Speaking on the occasion, Janardhan observed that our matriarchal society is slowly turning out into a patriarchal society, with increasing incidences of sexual violence and atrocities on women.

He strongly condemned the rise in atrocities on women in the state. He blamed the ignorance prevalent in the society and lack of awareness for such acts. He called for imparting moral lessons to children at a young age, so that they imbibe moral values.

Writer Roopa Hassan, Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane office bearers Devi, K.S. Lakshmi V. Geetha and others were present on the occasion.

A box was kept at the stall for the visitors to come up with their own slogans on issues concerning women and child safety. The best slogan will be awarded a prize.
