Transgenders should be treated equally, Mandya Ramesh

Mysore : Ashodaya Samiti, a trans gender group conducted a cultural program at Vana Ranga, Rangayana Mysore here on July 22.

Mandya Ramesh, famous Kannada actor and theatre artist,  Janardhan president of ‘Rangayana’ drama house, Srikanta Guddappa senior journalist  were present as chief guests.

Mandya Ramesh in his address, said that the no. of incidents of  harassment of women happening in Karnataka is sad and called these incidents as an indication of bad days in future. So we should avoid these kind of incidents and work for a better society, he said.

Janardhan, speaking about transgenders, was of the opinion that these people should be recognized and treated well in society.

He expressed happiness with the Supreme Court verdict given on the transgenders and they also should come to theatre to show their talents. He appreciated Chandra Prabha who is working for transgenders.

A two minute silence was observed to condemn the rape cases in the state.
