Mysuru: As the tenure of the Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO) would end by May 31, the Mysuru City Corporation is yet to decide of getting an independent water board or to continue with MCC.

In the council meeting held on Friday at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar hall, a heated debate took place between the administrative and opposition. Many of the corporators blamed the authority for the shortage of water supply in their respective areas.

Accordingly, the tenure period given to JUSCO water board will end in the month of May however there are a lot of delays and works are still pending. Taking into consideration, the MCC council had decided to have a different independent water board but no proper documents or final conclusions are taken in regards to this.

The city planning and development Chief M.V. Ramprasad as a mark of protest pour water on him and blamed the officials for not supplying water in many areas of the city, he stressed on taking an action at once.

Apart from this – during the meeting – the member also discussed the issues of the waste land inside People’s Park at Nazarbad that was given to Garden Tennis Club to build a beautiful tennis court at the license fee of Rs 50 in the year 1991.  Later the rent increased, currently the rent is Rs 50,000 per year but, before handing over the license to the same club, pending amount of license has to be cleared, they said.

There are also plans to clean the drainage systems of all the 65 wards, however there is a lack of Pourakarmikas in the city. Some members also said that the payments of these Pourakarmikas are been delayed and must be made by cheques.

Opposition leader Nagabushan alleged that the MCC have not issued any tenders for 10 public toilets promised by the corporation earlier, in the city. He said that the MCC has indulged in corruption –joining him –Srikantaiah also said that either the contract must continue or a new tender must be invited. But nothing has happened.

Clarifying it, MCC commissioner Dr C G Betsurmath said, “There has been no tender invited in this regard.” Mayor R Lingappa told that he would get the list of those public toilets and would take action accordingly.
