Protests halt release of water to TN, KRS at 100 ft

Mandya :As the protests continued over the release of  water from the KRS reservoir to Tamil Nadu, it was stopped and consequently the KRS water level reached the 100 ft. mark today as against its capacity of 124.80 ft. Last year, on te same day the level at the KRS reservoir stood at 118.80 ft.

Chief Engineer of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam (CNN) D. Shivashankar said that the release of water from the reservoir had been stopped since last night on instructions from Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.

The inflow was now at 24,649 cusecs today and the outflow had been reduced to 455 cusecs. It is expected that the  KRS reservoir will reach its brim very soon, keep in mind the continuing heavy rain.
