Mysore : The Suvarna Ladies Club of Mysore led by its President Indumathi N today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner seeking stringent action against perpetrators of crime against women.

Other associations like Parisara Samrakshana Samiti led by Bhanu Mohan, president, Mysore and Rajya Dravida Maha Sabha (RDMS) led by its President Srinivas and muslims also held a protest near Gandhi Statue Opposite to court.

The memorandum has expressed its grave concern over the rising cases of violence and crime against women. Referring to Gandhi’s famous quote that the  nation could be considered to have achieved real independence the day a woman can walk alone  even at midnight, the  memorandum said the irony was that women face  insecurity even during day time.

It also deplored the apathy of the authorities towards the soaring cases of crime against women and urged for suitable measures to ensure that women are safe and secure.
