Mysore: The Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA) which has proposed to bring Mysore and Bangalore under Intelligent Transport System (ITS), held its meeting in city recently.
During the meeting held at the DC office, which was chaired by DC C. Shikha, a JICA representative explained the District Administration about the benefits of ITS, besides bringing the existing traffic junctions and roads under ITS network as it would also take care of pedestrian’s needs which is a key link in the success of any transport system.
The JICA would be taking up the study simultaneously, besides collecting opinions of officials and the general public to make necessary changes before drawing the final plan. An official said that the JICA which is working in association with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) in Bangalore, is expected to implement the project from December.
MCC Commissioner Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Deputy Director of Tourism S.K. Qureshi, ACP (Traffic) Prabhakar Bharki and other officials took part in the meeting.
