Mysore :It is reported that ta protest broke out after three triple-riding youths (all brothers), were injured, one of them seriously, when the bike, a Hero Puch (KA09 K-197), on which they were proceeding for work was intercepted by Garuda Police  after a chase, resulting in the fall of the vehicle.

While the seriously injured Irfan is being treated at K.R. Hospital, Imran and Salman have sustained minor injuries. All three are sons of Noorulla, a resident of Bharathinagar in city.

The incident happened at Rajivnagar in the city, on 23rd  July,  .

More than 100 persons including the office-bearers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and residents of the area staged a dharna on the road in front of Nimra Masjid to protest against the alleged high-handedness of the Garuda Police.  They also demanded suspension of those manning the Garuda besides compensation to the family of the injured.

Udayagiri Inspector R. Srikanth and ACP Jaimaruthi, who reached the spot on information, made a futile bid to persuade the protestors to withdraw their stir but they continued to press for their demands despite heavy drizzle. Even as Police officials pleaded with the protestors to retract, some of them said that they would take a decision on the issue only after meeting senior officials.

The protest, was however, withdrawn as authorities sought 24 hours to settle the issue.

SDPI District Unit President Matin Baig, Secretary Amjad Khan, Amin Sait were among hundreds of Rajivnagar residents who took part in the protest.
