Phone-In programme: Mysuru DC delivers on civic complaints

Mysuru: The Deputy Commissioner of the Mysuru – Shikha – participated in the Phone-In programme at her office on Thursday, December 19.

During the programme, she informed that the state government has directed the order, that paddy and maize purchase centers will be set up at all Taluk Head Quarters from December 22 onwards.

The move is taken for the convenience of the farmers to sell their products, said the Deputy Commissioner.

Moreover, DC Shikha directed the Deputy Director of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies Dr. K. Rameshwarappa to ensure effective functioning of these centers by posting officials. She said, “Around 3.57 lakh tonne paddy purchased earlier and stored in godowns must be cleared before taking up the purchase scheme.”

Stating that only 20 out of 92 rice mills in the district have agreed to process the paddy, she warned the owners of the remaining rice mills to fall in line or face disciplinary action. The DC also announced that the price of processing one tonne of paddy had been hiked from Rs. 10 to Rs. 30.

The Phone-in programme

During the phone-in, complaints of weakening of the ‘Gopura’ of Chamundeshwari Temple, top at the Chamundi Hill also figured to which the DC instructed the officials to take stock of the situation.

Addressing a complaint from a person named – Madesh about doctors at a PHC in Malangi in T.Narasipur taluk charging Rs. 50 to examine a pregnant woman, the DC instructed the officials of the Health Department to immediately attend to the grievance.

Answering a call from one Thotappa Shetty from Bettadapura about the condition of the chariot at Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, DC Shikha said that Rs. 10 lakh had been sanctioned for the same and works on repairing the chariot would be completed before the ‘Jathra’ scheduled for February 2015.

Complaints on lack of underground drainage, non-supply of drinking water and other issues also poured during the phone-in programme in which as many as 15 calls were taken up.
