Over 5,000 youth leaders to march for peace and progress

Mysore: Over 5,000 youth leaders from all over Karnataka will march for peace and progress during the KARNATAKA YUVAJANOTSA 2014 in Mysore this week end.

The YUVAJANOTSAVA aimed at empowering the youth of Karnataka and is  jointly organized by the Youth Commission of the Karnataka Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC) and Mysore Diocese, will be held on October 24-26 at St. Philomena College premises, Mysore.

Over 2000 young leaders from all over Karnataka will participate in the three-day convention on the Theme: “Joyful and Transforming Leadership”. Nation building, inter-religious harmony, protection of environment, media competency and networking will be the main thrusts of the convention.

The YUVAJANOTSAVA 2014 will be inaugurated by Sri Srinivas Prasad, H’ble Minister for Revenue, Govt. of Karnataka at 11.30 am on Friday, Oct. 24.  

Over 5,000 youth will take part in the events on the final day. The main function of the event will be held at 11.30 am on Sunday, Oct. 26. Sri Siddharamiah, H’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka will be the chief guest and Most Rev. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore and President of KRCBC will preside over the function.

The “March for Peace and Progress” from the historical St. Philomena Church to the convention venue will be flagged off by Sri Abhayachandra Jain, H’ble Minister for Youth Affairs, Govt. of Karnataka at 9.00 am.

All the Catholic Bishops of Karnataka, Sri KJ George, Karnataka Home minister, Sri Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament and many other dignitaries are expected to attend the state level programme.

India is young and a large majority of Indians are young too. They are a huge human resource, capable transforming India and the world though their dreams, energy and leadership. The youth of today are the country’s tomorrow. That tomorrow, needless to state starts today itself. The youth need to be prepared to shoulder such an awesome responsibility. Those in charge of helping youth through education and formation, have a challenging responsibility to ready for tomorrow.

The Karnataka Yuvajanotsava 2014 is intended to motivate youth to do ever more and ever better to usher in a new society based on love and service. May it inspire the youth of Karnataka to be joyful and transforming leaders of tomorrow.
