Mysuru Railway division gets several awards at the 60th Railway Week Celebrations

Mysuru: South Western Railway, Mysuru division, celebrated its 60th Railway Week Celebrations,  at its division office premises here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion Divisional Railway Manager said the division has moved 5.22 crore  passengers this year. The passenger earnings at Rs.222.64 crores have shown an increase of Rs.13.52% with respect to Rs.196.12 crores of 2013-14. The overall earnings of the division is Rs 527.37 crores this year compared to Rs.475 crores last year which is 10.89% increase.

This year 2 Officers and 20 employees of  the division were recognized and awarded for their meritorious service by the General Manager at the Zonal level Railway Week Celebrations held at Hubli on April. The Division was also awarded Accounts Efficiency Shield  which it shared with the Hubli Division, Electrical Efficiency Shield which it shared with Bengaluru Division, Engineering Efficiency Shield, Operating Efficiency Shield which it again shared with the Hubli Division, and the  Best Maintained Major Station Mysuru Station.

Further he said with a view to providing rail-users a glimpse of history of the old Mysore region under the rule of Wodeyars, the walls of the booking office concourse and the retention wall facing platform 6 on the west-end of Mysore station are being painted with places of tourist or historical importance, several events connected with renowned Dasara festivities as also couple of paintings on the theme of ‘Swachh Bharath Abhiyan’.

” In the direction of reducing the waiting time in queue for buying unreserved tickets, the new concept of “Operation Five Minutes” has been introduced with effect from March 30. In an effort to reduce through forward liability of works, 395 redundant works out of 688 works identified. Division has also provided 24 x 7 RPF Help line. Toll Free Helpline No. 18004257221 besides  operating  RPF staff round the clock in order to redress passenger complaints so as to ensure  “Safe and Secure” travel to passengers specially women, children and senior citizens”,  he added.
