Minister Prasad Releases Mysore Tourist Passport

Mysore: Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala and Pramoda Devi Wadiyar will be invited by the Dasara Executive Committee on Monday, informed District-in-Charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad, here on Sunday August 31.

He was speaking after launching the Mysore Tourist Passport, at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden premises. He said that the Committee will soon release the list of office-bearers of various sub-committees for Dasara.

In order to end the difficulties faced by visitors who visit city in large numbers during Dasara at ticket counters of tourist places in and around the city, the District Administration has introduced ‘Mysore Tourism Passport’, a single ticket package for tourists to gain access to multiple tourist spots.

District In-Charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, who released the passports in three colours — Orange, Green and Blue with varied packages — at a function in the City Zoo, told press persons that arrangements were being made to give publicity on the passports through hoardings at busy places like the Bus Stands, Railway Stations and Airports in the country.

Orange colored passports with direct access to Mysore Zoo and palace will be charged Rs. 80 for Indian adults and Rs. 40 for Children while overseas visitors seeking such a passport will have to pay Rs. 220 for adults and Rs. 110 for children.

Green colored tourist passports with access to Zoo, Palace, Karanji Lake, Chamundi hill will be available for Rs. 120 for Indian adults and Rs.75 for Indian kids while foreign adults will have to pay Rs. 260 per head with their children having to pay Rs. 150 per passport.

Blue coloured tourist passports with access to Zoo, Palace, Karanji Lake, Chamundi Hill, KRS and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary will be available to Indian adults at Rs. 160 while their children will have to pay Rs. 100 per passport. Foreign nationals will have to pay Rs. 510 per passport with their children will have to pay Rs. 170.

Tourist Passports can also be purchased online and the same will be sold from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. While Orange Passports will be valid for one day, the Green ones will be valid for two days and the Blue Passports will be valid for three days from the date of issue. He said that a dedicated website, http://mysoretouristpassport.in will sell online tickets for tourists. Printed versions of Mysore Tourist Passport will be printed by the district administration within the span of a week. Bar coding will also be done to avoid forgery of the tickets, he said.
