Mysore: The road that connects to the Ring Road from Highway Circle passing through Bannimantap ‘A’ Layout, has been in a devastated situation off late.
The main road of Bannimantap ‘A’ Layout, which is route to many industries, petroleum depots and warehouses, has turned into a dirt track. However despite the several attempts made by the industrialists, this road has not been repaired by the concerned authorities.
At the time of rain, the road turns into a mess with slush and stagnant rainwater. The road has also got crater-like potholes which makes it difficult even for the lorries to commute.
The Mysore City Corporation (MCC) has released funds for taking up development works on ‘Jodithenginamara’ Road which connects Bannimantap ‘A’ Layout to Highway Circle. But, the authorities seem to have neglected the road further for reasons best known to them.
Corporator Ramesh of ward 29 said that the Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake had conducted an inspection of the road and got Rs. 6.5 crore released for the development of the road through MUDA during his recent visit.
But, the tender process has been postponed for unknown reasons. The road has also become the dump yard for debris from demolished buildings. Requests to stop the dumping of the debris have gone unheard, as people continue to do so, said Ramesh.
Once the tenders are opened the road will be developed from the Ring Road junction to the Indian Oil Corporation depot, he concluded.
