Lokayukta raids Child Development Project officer’s house

Mysore :In an early morning swoop, the Lokayukta sleuths raided the residence of Ramakrishna, a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of the Department of Women and Child Development, at Vijayanagar 2nd Stage in city today and seized documents and records pertaining to his assets.

The raid was conducted based on a complaint that Ramakrishna had made assets worth more than his source of income by taking bribes.

It is learnt that Ramakrishna, who was working as a CDPO in H.D. Kote, was recently transferred to the Remand Home in city, but he was yet to take charge of the office here. He had earlier worked in Nanjangud, T.N. Pur and Chamarajanagar.

The team of 39 Lokayukta personnel led by SP S.M. Jagadish Prasad, swooped upon the house of Ramakrishna, popularly known as R.K. Corner,in Vijayanagar, at about 5.30 am and began the raid in the presence of Ramakrishna’s family members, as Ramakrishna had been for a walk. Ramakrishna who arrived after sometime removed a car that was parked in the portico of the house and co-operated with the sleuths.

His family consists of his wife Parvathi, an architect, his elder son, an engineer now settled in the US and his younger son, who is pursuing MBBS at JSS Medical College in city.

The sleuths seized the documents of three cars which included a Toyota Innova (KA-09-P-5620), a Volkswagen Polo (KA-09-MA-1518) and a Chevrolet Tavera (KA-05-MD-2511).

Interestingly, the sleuths did not find any gold jewellery in the house which has a cellar, a ground floor which is rented to Paying Guests and a first floor.

During the raid, it came to light that Ramakrishna had a house each in Dattagalli and Vijayanagar 2nd Stage apart from buildings in Tumkur and Bangalore.

The Lokayukta who summoned officials from the Forest Department to value the wooden articles including doors and other items made from teak and rose wood, estimated the items at Rs. 5 lakh.

PWD officials were also summoned to value the house in Vijayanagar and other places. It is said that the house which was raided today is estimated at about Rs. 2 crore.

The Lokayukta officials would also visit other places where he has made assets and document the same by videographing it while the PWD officials would estimate the value of the houses.

It is learnt that Ramakrishna had properties (movable and immovable) worth Rs. 5.3 crore in total.

Dy.SP Swamy Kumar, Inspectors Mathew Thomas, Gopalakrishna, Prakash Gowda, Parashuram from Madikeri, staff Niranjan, Anand Scindia, Banuprakash, Veerabhadra, Satish, Shivashankar, Krishnamurthy, Ramesh, Pradeep, A. Shabbir Ahmed, Panduranga, Narasegowda, Divya, Dakshayini, Annapoorna and others took part in the raid.
