Mysore: Lokayukta police investigating the gold leafing controversy case have urged the government to transfer Mysore Palace Board deputy director T S Subramanya, who is one of the accused, to facilitate fair investigation.

Lokayukta SP Jagadish Prasad said that a request for the transfer of the official has been sent to chief secretary. This follows the appointment of a director to the Board recently. Earlier, the deputy director was heading the Board. But the new official has been appointed as the director.

A total of 10 persons, including those who served the Board as deputy directors between 2007 and 2012, engineers and contractors, have been booked on charges of cheating and misusing government funds in mid-June.

A case was taken up after National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (Lucknow) submitted a report, which said that contractors have spoiled the quality work by using substandard materials.

High court had recently rejected anticipatory bail applications of Subramanya and well-known ganjifa artist Raghupathy Bhat, who is also an accused in the case.
