Mysore: Yashoda Raghav Trust organized Kavitha Memorial Award and Memorial Lecture here on July 24 at Swamy Vivekananda Auditorium in Mahajan Pre University College premises.
The programme was presided over Sarvamangala Shankar, Vice Chancellor at Dr Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University .Prof Ravivarmakumar,Advocate General of Govt of Karnataka presented the prestigious Award to K S Vimala, Vice-President of Akhila Bharata Janawadi Mahila Sanghatan.
Prof Jayaprakashgowda, President of Karnataka Sangha, Mandya was the special guest of the occasion.
A Memorial lecture on the topic ‘Working Woman’ was delivered by Prof Padma Shekhar, Head of Departments of Jainology and Prakrit Study Centre in Manasagangothri, Mysore.
Speaking on the occasion Sarva Mangala congratulated Vimala and also expressed concern over the present situation of women in society.
In her address, Vimala while referring to the problems faced by women in modern day society, attributed the same to lack of education and also globalisation. The cases of sexual crimes against women can end when men respect women in society, she said.
