Mysuru: Complaints against civic bodies for failing to provide basic facilities are on the rise which indicates awareness regarding basic facilities among people, said Chairperson of Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) Meera C. Saxena.
Speaking at a public grievances meet held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday May 6, she said that about 3,000 cases have been filed in Mysuru district since 2007, out of which 1,990 cases have been disposed while 965 are still pending.
She said that the complaints against civic bodies include failure in providing adequate drainage facilities, streetlights, etc., while general interest complaints like pollution of water bodies by municipalities or industries are also being filed with KSHRC.
She added that 50 per cent of the complaints received by KSHRC were against the Police Department.
