Mysore: Contrary to reports that SpiceJet will be cancelling its flight services to Mysore from Sept. 5 to Oct. 31, Mysore-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha today categorically ruled out the rumours and assured that the flight services will not be stopped as the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has spoken to SpiceJet and they have agreed to continue with the air-connectivity to Mysore.

Speaking to media persons during his Janatha Darshan held at the Jaladarshini Guest House on Hunsur Road this morning, Pratap Simha said that he had spoken to the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Siddheshwar this morning and he has assured that the facility will not be denied to Mysore, especially during the Dasara festivities.

“We (the BJP government at the Centre) will take care of it,” the MP said and added, “During the last meeting in this regard, Chief Minister Siddharamaiah was present and he had responded very encouragingly.”

“SpiceJet was thinking of stopping their services to Mysore not for want of enough number of passengers but for want of an additional aircraft which will be sorted out soon” he said.

“Plans are also on the anvil to bring in chartered planes (40 to 50 seaters) to operate weekly flights from Mysore to cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Delhi,” said the MP.

He said that the Union Civil Aviation Ministry had sought additional land for expanding the Mandakalli airport which is the onus of the State Government.

Speaking about the BJP government at the Centre with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, Pratap Simha said that it is barely 100 days of his governance and he has already initiated several development measures. “People need to show a constructive attitude and cooperate for the nation’s overall development” he said.
