Mysuru: Devaraja police arrested five persons in connection with a fake medical certificate racket at city’s K.R.Hospital. The arrested include a retired doctor of the hospital for conniving and issuing fake medical fitness certificates and seized materials used for the crime.
Dr. Muddu Krishna, a retired doctor at K.R.Hospital residing in Tilaknagar, Sagai Raj, a ‘D’ group employee of the hospital, C.P. Velu, driver of an ambulance residing in Kalyanagiri, Krishna, a rubber stamp maker residing in Vidyaranyapuram and Nataraj, a resident of Gayathripuram, who was providing fake seals are the arrested.
It is alleged that the five accused used to make use of fake seals and rubber stamps to issue fake medical fitness certificates and cheating people.
It is said that MMC&RI Medical Superintendent Dr. B.G.Sagar, who received three such medical certificates for verification, two of which were from J.K. Tyre factory on KRS Road and the other from Taluk Office a month ago forwarded by the organisations for sanction of sick leave was astonished to find that the certificates were not in the prescribed format besides being validated by three different doctors namely Dr. R. Muddukrishna, Dr. R. Krishna and Dr. R.M. Krishna, who later emerged to be the same person using different names.
Sensing foul play, Dr. Sagar lodged a complaint with Police Commissioner Dr. M.A.Saleem, who directed jurisdictional Devaraja Police to investigate.
Acting on the basis of the three certificates, investigators zeroed in on the accused doctor and although it is not known since when Muddukrishna has been operating the racket, only three such certificates have been found in the recent past, said a Police officer.
DCPs A. N.Rajanna and M.M. Mahadevaiah and Devaraja Sub-division ACP Jaimaruthi supervised, Devaraja inspector H.M. Kantharaju, SI Balakrishna and staff in the nabbing and seizing operations which has been lauded by City Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem.
