End to tiger terror; forest dept captures the wild cat

Mysuru: The tiger which created terror among the villagers of Hirehalli in H D Kote was captured by the forest department officials on Wednesday December 18.

The forest officials set a trap to capture the wild cat. They set cages with a sheep as bait and temporarily  camped there for the past two days. The area was on high alert due to the earlier attack made by the tiger.

The tiger which is reportedly said to be old with its canine broken was trapped in the cage set up by the forest officials. However the officials said that they are yet to find out the gender of the animal, it was later taken to Mysore Zoo for treatment.

Earlier, the tiger had claimed the life of a cow belonging to Kempegowda, a resident of the village. After which many other animals died in the vicinity. The villagers were outraged and upset with the forest officials as they were unable to capture the tiger.

Gokul, Director, Rajeev Gandhi National Park, Nagarahole who confirmed the animal was caught, said that uncertainty prevails over the release of the Tiger which is not yet decided. It will be decided only after seeing the condition of the Tiger.
