Dy Commissioner Shikha inspects development works

Mysore: The Dy Commissioner C Shikha took-up a spot inspection of the on-going works in the city on Thursday October 30, a day after she warned the officials and contractors that stern action will be initiated against them on failing to complete the developmental works.

During her two-hour inspection, which began at 7.15 am, Shikha inspected the remodeling of storm water drains in Bannimantap. She also inspected missing links of the drain and reconstruction of bridge at Yadavagiri Industrial area, near St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bannimantap, HUDCO Main Road, junction near Tipu Masjid, near Bhuvaneshwari Kalyana Mantap in Bannimantap and also inspected the heritage works around the Palace and Raja Marga.

MCC Commissioner Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, MUDA Superintending Engineer Shivakumar, Executive Engineer Veerabadraiah, MCC Executive Engineer Krishna and other officials of MUDA and MCC accompanied the DC during the inspection.

These development works are being iniatiated under the JnNURM scheme and Chief Minister’s special grant of Rs. 100 crore to be complete before March 30, 2015.

It may be recalled that Shikha, expressing concern at the tardy pace at which the works were being taken up, at a meeting of officials of MUDA, MCC and the Slum Clearance Board at her Office yesterday, had said that works on overall waste management, construction of storm water drains in Bannimantap and Hebbal, works on restoration of heritage structures should be expedited by using the funds released for the purpose.

To which MCC Commissioner had given details of various purchases made for execution of works taken up under CM’s special grant and also JNNURM and stated that 88 per cent of works had been completed.
