Mysore: A four-member team of officials from the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) from Bangalore undertook inspection of various civic works launched in city on Wednesday August 27.

Various areas under the Mysore City Corporation (MCC) limits were scrutinized during which the officials of the civic body faced the wrath of the experts for failing to provide relevant documents pertaining to the on-going works.

During the team’s visit to Krishnadevaraya Circle in Vijayanagar II Stage, for which MCC claimed to have spent Rs. 2 lakh for the installation of the statue of Krishnadevaraya, the panel sought relevant documents for the same from the MCC officials to substantiate their claim.

However, the MCC officials failed to provide relevant documents which irked the team who took them to task.

The team, which also inspected the works of the development of a park at a cost of Rs. 28 lakh under the High Tension wire in Vijayanagar, found the fence engraved with the MUDA logo, took severe exception and questioned the MCC officials as to how the name of MUDA could be engraved on the fence of the park developed by the MCC.

However, MCC officials claimed that the park had been developed by them.

Exasperated over the overgrowth of weeds and thick bushes inside the park, the team told the MCC officials, “Retain the park as a park and do not convert it into a garbage dumping yard.”

The four member team comprising Joint Director (Planning) Chandrashekhar, Superintending Engineer Shivakumar, accompanied by senior officials of MCC inspected works in progress near Nirmala Convent School, Gokulam third stage, Hebbal, Vijayanagar, Metagalli and other areas in Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja Assembly constituencies.

MCC Superintending Engineer Krishna, MCC Commissioner P.G. Ramesh, EES Krishna Bovi, Ravi and Nagaraja Murthy, Zonal Commissioner Sathyamurthy, Development Officers Shivaram, Govindappa, Jagadish, Harsha, Parvathi, Roopashree, Vasu, Narasimhaiah, Lakshmanegowda and others accompanied the team during the inspection.
