Mysore: With Deepavali round the corner, an awareness campaign on wheels with the theme ‘Environment-friendly Deepavali’ organized jointly by Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH) and Mysore Science Foundation (MSF) was flagged off by the Additional Regional Commissioner Dr MR Ravi at RMNH premises in Siddharth Nagar here on Monday October 20.
A van with flexes carrying meaningful messages on Deepavali pertaining to accidents due to crackers and environmental pollution will travel across the city for two days. An audio recording on the subject would also be played to draw the attention of the people.
In the last phase, the van, will reach Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, wherefrom. a procession would be taken out to the DC’s office to present a memorandum, on the issue
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ravi pointed out that the environment was nobody’s property and polluting it on the pretext of bursting crackers was a bad proposition.
He appealed to the people to transfer the environment to the future generation on a clean state by celebrating Deepavali as a true festival of light sans pollution. He said that technological development was good in the country but awareness on environment was bad which should be corrected.
