Dasara elephants rehearsal with sand bags begins

Mysore :The rehearsal for Dasara elephants got intensified today with the howdah-bearer Arjuna being loaded with sand bags along with cushions, weighing about 600 kgs together here on August 31.

The six elephants, led by sand-bags-laden Arjuna, began their march from the Palace at 9 am, passing through K.R. Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road and Highway Circle before reaching the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap, from where they returned to the Palace via the same route, covering the total distance of about 9 kms in about three hours.

Tomorrow’s rehearsal of sand bags and cushion will be performed by Balarama and Abhimanyu, the other stand-by howdah bearers.

DCF Dr. V. Karikalan, ACF Basavaraj, Vet Dr. D.N. Nagaraj and others were present.
