Mysore: Documents related to the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) scam, and other records of the Institute were shifted to a different location inside ATI, in the presence of police personnel, recently.
The documents related to the alleged ATI scam, during the tenure of former Director General of ATI, Amita Prasad, exceed 9,000 pages. According to sources, DG of ATI and in-charge Regional Commissioner, Rashmi V Mahesh had raised fears that the documents were susceptible to arson, destruction or tampering, as many of the top staff of ATI were involved in the scam. Hence the security measures.
Following this, police personnel inspected the ATI premises and the standalone building where documents of ATI were kept. Police identified a secure building inside ATI and decided to shift to the documents. Sources said that documents related to the alleged embezzlement occupied nearly three rooms.
It can be recalled that Rashmi Mahesh was recently assaulted allegedly by persons who were part of the irregularities at ATI, following the suicide of a gazetted manager at ATI premises. After the assault, Rashmi had approached the media, and had maintained that the attack was “pre-meditated” and was “aided and abetted” by the police.
The assault was widely condemned and the State government has ordered a probe into the allegations made by Rashmi in her report.
