Mysore: The three day, 9th Karnataka Regional Catholic Youth Convention (KRCY) event was organised at St. Philomena College with the theme ‘Joy of the Gospel to enlighten and Enliven’
The event was inaugurated by Srinivas Prasad, Revenue Minister and Mysore district-In-charge as well as Henry D’souza, Bishop of Bellary minister on Friday, October 24.
Recalling the service of Mother Theresa, Prasad said, “Christianity has given enormous service in the field of social as well as education service to the nation. Yuvajanotsava will definitely help the youth to build national integrity and inter-religious harmony.”
Srinivas further adds that youth must work towards the progress of the country, take up social service. He also applauded the Catholic community for their tremendous dedication towards social welfare.
Henry D’souza, Bishop of Bellary spoke about the transforming leadership among Catholic youth. He gave a call to the youth to be leaders of hope not of despair.
He also stated that youth must get into political, civil and agricultural fields for the betterment of the nation.
Encouraging spiritual leadership, Bishop said that one must cultivate spiritual thinking and respect towards all the religions as well as their sentiments. He further propagated harmony and equality.
While Ivan D’souza MLC said that youth has the power to change the nation.

More than 1400 youths form 14 dioceses of Karnataka are participating in this youth convention.
Besides, Viyon Veigas and Maria compeered the programme. Fr Antony Raj eelcomed the gathering and Mr Martin, proposed the vote of thanks.
