CM to launch two more traffic police stations in city

Mysore :With the city growing day-by-day and vehicular traffic too increasing alarmingly, two more Traffic Police Stations will officially start functioning from tomorrow which will be launched by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah tomorrow.

As of now six Traffic Police Stations are functioning in city and two more will come under Siddharthanagar and V.V. Puram.

The Siddharthanagar Traffic Police Station will be housed in a building belonging to the Police Department in Kurubarahalli Circle which will cover parts of Nazarbad, Udayagiri and Chamundi Hill. The V.V. Puram Traffic Police Station which is now functioning as part of N.R. Traffic Police Station will become independent from tomorrow.

The City Police Commissioner has sent a proposal to the Government seeking one Inspector, two Sub-Inspectors for each Station and a total staff of 93 personnel. Till the Government gives the consent on staff requirement, the new Stations would function with staff deputed on OOD from other Stations, according to sources.

Launch of Traffic Improvement Plan

As part of Mysore Traffic Improvement Plan, the M-TRAC scheme, on the lines of the B-TRAC in Bangalore, will soon be launched by the Mysore City Traffic Police, which has a plan outlay of Rs. 40 crore over the next five years.

The State Government has already approved the project and granted a sum of Rs. 5 crore in the first phase.

The scheme will be launched by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah at the new auditorium of Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) on Aug. 22 at 5.30 pm.

Home Minister K.J. George, District In-Charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad and PWD Minister Dr.H.C. Mahadevappa will be present at the function to be presided over by MLA Tanveer Sait.
