Mumbai: Twenty-seven girls were rescued by social service branch of Mumbai police from different brothels in separate raids within the city. The Social branch also raided clubs indulging in gambling, hookah parlours and pirated cds.
According to the deputy commissioner of police Praveen Patil, his staff raided Sai Krupa walfare society in Malwani in Malad and rescued two two girls including one minor who were pushed into the prostitution and arrested a woman brothel keeper. The team also raided another brothel at Anjali patel house in Malwani and arrested two women brothel keeper and rescued three girls from their clutches. ”In this case as one of the girl is a minor we have invoked the stringent act of POSCA on accused. ” said Patil.
In South police raided Krishna palace hotel at Nana chowk at Grant road and arrested two pimps and rescued two girls. Another police team raided Belur park Bar and Restaurant, Laxman Mhatre road, Kanderpada, Dahisar and rescued 7 girls and arrested 7 persons.
On other hand Social service branch also raided gamblings dens in Rey road, Wadala and Bandra east. Police also conducted raids on a illegal Royal smook a hookah parlour in Borivli west.
