Kasaragod: A youth drowned while taking bath in a pond with his friends at Neerchal Manya on Sunday, July 24.
Shiyaz (21) from Yeriyal is the deceased.
Shiyaz along with his friends were reportedly playing football in the evening. They soon ventured into a nearby pond near Manya Mundol to have bath where Shiyaz started drowning. When friends failed to rescue him, fire personnel and police arrived at the spot and succeeded in fishing out the body from the pond.
A case has been registered at Vidyanagar police station.
