Mangaluru: Abdul Haneef from Puttur, who was arrested for posting on social media, an “improper” image of Deyi Baideti, a revered woman of Tulunadu, has been once again denied bail by the Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court on October 17.

Haneef, a resident of Eshwarmangala near Puttur was booked under IPC 295(A) Column and IT Act 67 and arrested following a complaint by Puttur Brahmashree Narayana Guruswamy Billawa Sangha secretary Keshav Poojary Bedrala at Sampya police station.

The accused was produced before Puttur Fifth Additional District and Sessions Court and was sent to judicial custody. Earlier too he was denied bail by the court.

It may be recalled that Haneef had clicked a photograph of self with Deyi Baidethi, the statue of mother of legendary heroes of Tulu Nadu Koti-Chennaya and posted it on social media with an intention to insult her and the community in particular. The statues of her and others were established recently in memory of legendary Tulunadu heroes Koti and Chennaya at their birth place Padumale.
